In the latest round of SkillSelect invitations (11th July 2019), 1000 invitations were issued for subclass 189 Skilled Independent while 100 invitations were issued for subclass 489 Skilled Regional. 775 invites for subclass 189 were issued to clients with a minimum score of 80.
While minimum points score for both subclasses was 80 points, Accountants (2211) and Auditors, Company Secretaries & Corporate Treasurers (2212) have gone to 85 points as minimum.
Certain high demand occupations are subject to pro rata arrangements to ensure invitations are able to be issued across the program year. Also, places are first allocated to Skilled Independent visas (subclass 189) and then remaining to Skilled Regional visas (subclass 489). If in case all places have been taken up by subclass 189, then no invitations are issued for subclass 489.
All of the above numbers do not include the invitations issued for State and Territory Government nominated visa subclasses.
Invitation Process and cut-off
The clients who rank the highest by point score are invited to apply. For clients who are sitting on equal point score, their order of invitation is determined by the time at which they reached this score.
