New skilled visas
The Department of home Affairs has announced 2 new skilled regional visas to bring the immigration program in line with the regional areas’ demands.
Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa replaces the previous subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa and is still a point tested application. It commences on 16th November 2019.
Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) replace the previous subclass 190 Skilled nominated Visa and commences 16th November 2022.
Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa subclass 491
This is a points tested skilled migration visa that requires either a State/ Territory government nomination or sponsorship by an eligible family member who is already settled in a designated regional area.
14,000 places have been allocated for this visa category.
Permanent Residence Skilled (Regional) subclass 191
This is a permanent visa for clients who have held a subclass 491 or 494 visa for at least 3 years and have complied with all visa conditions, including minimum taxable income.
